Luanne Gagliardi, the owner-operator of two shops in Galena - LuLu's of Galenda and Galena Artisan Center, has been sewing since she can remember. She comes from a family of seamstresses and attributes her talent and inspiration to her grandmother. Her grandmother worked for many years as a seamstress in New York and, during her career, did the beading on Mamie Eisenhower's inaugural gown! Luanne enjoys the creative process of joining fabric with design and hears back from her customers that her bags have brought many years of use and enjoyment. In Spring of 2006, Luanne opened a shop in Galena, IL that showcases her tapestry bags as well as many other distinctive home decorating items and gifts.
